Workshop - Hove

When we met the client at our first site meeting, a wood worker & artist, she was working on the kitchen table & was desperate for a workshop of her own, away from the busy household. It needed to be large enough to house all her power tools & equipment and also needed to be robust & easy to keep clean. The client also wanted it too look good as it would be situated at the end of her garden, visible from the house.

We first had to clear an old shed and over grown plants & then fill an old trampolene hole that was underneath where the new cabin would be. The client wanted lots of natural light & ventilation so we installed large bifold doors, 2 opening windows 7 a sklight above her work bench.

The walls were finished in hardwood ply which are suitable for a workshop of this nature, but with a white painted plastered ceiling to create the feeling of natural light. Outside, the studio was clad in local cedar stained black, with copper lighting which will age over time.
